Vegas, baby!

Vegas is insane. Giant casinos, you literally get lost inside them. The entrances are grandiose, but once inside there’s not a single sign pointing to the exits, and they are like small towns, with not only casinos, but also shops, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, attractions and live entertainment. We spent 2 full days walking along Las Vegas Boulevard and walking into the different casinos; it looks close on the map but since the casinos are so huge you spend ages inside each one of them, and walking from one to the next can takes 15 minutes.
Circus circus with its circus acts. The Venetian with its reproduction of Venice, including indoors canal and gondola rides along it. Bellagio with its fountain show and amazing indoor garden. Mirage with its erupting volcano. Paris with the Eiffel Tower replica. Treasure Island and its tacky pirates and mermaids show. Flamingo, all very pink and with flamingos and other animals in the back gardens. Ceasar’s Palace with amazing fountains and decoration, but not so good show. MGM with its lions… which we never saw cause we got there at about 2am and they were gone to bed already. Luxor’s reproduction of not only Luxor, but other places in Egypt as well. Mandalay Bay with a cool live band. Excalibur- the cute medieval castle with trashy people inside. New York New York and its beautiful Statue of Liberty and other famous buildings.
Everything is big, over the top, and artificially stunning. We also went into several wedding chapels, including one of Elvis’ ones. We went into some nightclubs and Coyote Ugly bar- utterly disappointing. The first night we went to a Cirque du Soleil show, “O” (as in eau, water in French)- wonderful, the stage moves up and down and at times is a deep pool and performers swim around and even dive into it. There’s so much to see and do in Vegas!! So much so, that in fact the second night we never went back to Lisa’s house, and instead decided to stay up all night and from there went straight to our Grand Canyon tour the next day. And we didn’t even gamble AT ALL, so imagine if you stop to gamble as well!!


Las Vegas es una locura. Casinos gigantes, literalmente te perdes adentro. Las entradas son grandiosas, pero una vez adentro no hay un solo cartel marcando las salidas, y son como pequenias ciudades que tienen no solo casinos, pero tambien negocios, restaurants, hotels, boliches, atracciones y entretenimiento en vivo. Nos pasamos 2 dias enteros caminando a lo largo de Las Vegas Boulevard y entrando en los diferentes casinos; parece todo cerca en el mapa pero como los casinos son tan grandes te pasas anios adentro de cada uno, y caminar de uno al de al lado puede llevarte 15 minutos.

Bellagio con su show de la fuente y jardines adentro alucinante. Mirage con su volcan que erupciona. Paris con la replica de la torre Eiffel. Treasure Island con su show de los piratas y sirenas grasa. Flamingo, todo muy rosa y con falmingos y otros animals en el jardin de atras. Ceasar’s Palacon Fuentes y decoracion alucinantes, pero con un show no tan bueno. MGM con sus leones… que nunca vimos porque llegamos a las 2 de la manana y ya los habian mandado a dormir. Luxor con sus reproducciones no solo de Luxor pero de otras ciudades de Egipto tambien. Mandalay Bay con una banda en vivo con mucha onda. Excalibur- el Castillo medieval divino pero con gente muy cabeza adentro. New York New York con la hermosa Estatua de la Libertad y otros edificios famosos.
Todo es grande, exagerado, y artificialmente impactante. Tambien fuimos a varias iglesias de casamiento, incluyendo una de las de Elvis. Fuimos a algunos boliches y al bar de Coyote Ugly- una desilusion. La primera noche fuimos a un show de Cirque du Soleil, “O” (como eau, agua en frances)- espectacular, el escenario se sube y se baja y por momentos es una pileta profunda en la que los actors nadan y hasta se tiran de cabeza. Hay tanto que hacer y ver en Las Vegas!!! Tanto de hecho, que la segunda noche nunca volvimos a la casa de Lisa, y en cambio decidimos quedarnos dando vueltas toda la noche y de ahi fuimos directo a nuestro tour al Gran Canion del Colorado el dia siguiente. Y ni siquiera apostamos PARA NADA, asi que imaginense si ademas paran a apostar!!
