10th March. Yesterday Sergio, Ighal and Ariel had booked a day trip for today to Tiwanaco. The plan was for me to wake up with them and see if they had a spare spot for me when the tour people arrived to pick them up. We set the alarm clocks, before going to bed at about 5am last night. We woke up when the hotel guy was knocking on our door, saying the tour van was waiting for us downstairs. Sergio and I jumped out of bed, Ighal generously offered me to take his spot and decided to stay in bed himself, Ariel said he wasn’t going and then freaked out when he saw us leaving and couldn’t remember anything, but then decided again he couldn’t be fucked. So it was just Sergio and I, and we had to walk to the travel agency cause the van got tired of waiting for us. But we got there.
I had been told that Tiwanaco was “The Machu Picchu of Bolivia”. Luckily some people told me afterwards that it sucked, so I was prepared for the disappointment. It is definitely NOT the Machu Picchu of Bolivia. Maybe from a historical importance point of view, I don’t know, but not from a tourist’s point of view for sure. There’s some pyramids and temples in ruins. It didn’t suck, but it wasn’t great either. It was OK. The thing is that the constructions are either very in ruins, so not much to see, or they have been only partly excavated, so not much to see again. But we had a fun day, it was interesting.
On the way back, they dropped us off in the main square in
