Lima, Peru!

Despite the flight being delayed when departing, I got to Lima at almost the estimated time, before midday. I shared a taxi with an australian couple that sat next to me on the plane, but they were going to a hostel which was a bit far from the Parque Kennedy, in Miraflores, where I wanted to stay, so I got off the taxi at the park and found cool nearby hostel. I gave Bruno a call (the Peruvian guy who lives in Mexico and surfed the same place on CS as I did in Rio during Carnival), and we agreed to meet up a bit later. He had offered to be my tour guide during my stay in Lima, and he was awesome! We did so many things in such little time, and he made me try heaps of traditional food and drinks. We had some lunch (chicharron sandwich) and drank Inka Cola (the national soft drink, everyone drinks it here, it tastes like chewing gum but is yellow) and then headed to the historical city centre. We went to the Museum of the Inquisition and Congress, and then to the Convent of San Francisco with its cool catacombs. We walked around the main square (Plaza de Armas) and then to another square (Plaza San Martin). We walked past a beautiful park full of museums and then went to the Circuito Magico del Agua (The Magic Water Circuit): a park with about 15 water fountains, all lit up in different colours, and with light, music and water shows. It was so beautiful, pretty, pretty colours, nice shinny things. We ate around the corner some anticuchos (cow heart skewers) and picarones for dessert (doughy thing with honey) and drank chicha morada (a yucky drink made of the juice of a purple corn). After that we headed back to Miraflores area, walked around there for a bit and had a drink at my hostel´s bar (I tried the famous Pisco). We then met up with Bruno´s cousin, Pamela, who was absolutely lovely, and the 3 of us went out drinking to a couple of bars in the Barranco area. I even had my photo taken with a famous soccer player! They dropped me off at the hostel after 3am, and straight to bed, exhausted but happy.
The next day Bruno came to meet me at the hostel in the morning and we went to El Olivar (or Los Olivares??), a park full of olive trees, then from there to the waterfront, and we walked there past the Parque del Amor (the Love Park, absolutely beautiful) and onto Larcomar, a famous shopping centre which is on the water edge, on the cliff, underground, overlooking the water. We had some quick Chifa for lunch (Peruvian version of chinese food) and then farewelled Bruno- thank you soooooooooo much for showing me around, you were an awesome tour guide!! I got a cab to the bus station and got a bus to Nazca, departing at 2pm.
