Sambodromo

So, I´ve said the Sambodromo night deserved its own post, and it surely does cause it was such an AWESOME night. Unfortunately I´ve been doing so much stuff that I haven´t had much time to write on the blog, and it´s been a week since. God, I´m so bloody behind...!
So, let´s summarize: Our dodgy tickets worked. Bruno and I were ecstatic and high fived. The view wasn´t the best, but it was much better than I had expected and more than enough for me. The atmosphere was incredible. We got there at about 7:30pm, the parade started about 9, and we left at 5:30am, about 10mins before it ended to minimize at least a bit the crazy crowds on the metro. So it was about 8 hours of dancing and jumping up and down practically non stop. My feet were full of sores and bleeding after it, every one of my toes was in sheer pain, but I didn´t mind, I refused to stop jumping up and down because of it.
There were 6 Escolas de Samba that night, each one has a maximum of 1 hour and 40 minutes to parade, and has its own song repeated over and over again during this whole time. The songs are catchy and we read the lyrics so learnt about half of each of them by heart. 3 of the Escolas de Samba were INCREDIBLEEEEEEEEEE, just a massive adrenaline and party atmosphere, the other 3 were also amzaing visually but did not get me into such a party mode.
Needless to say the floats and costumes are out of this world, everything is so colourful and beautiful and you can see how much effort and work is put in it. And the floats are really... techonological as well, for lack a better word.
And the ammount of people!! It´s unbelievableeeeeeeeee! Everywhere you look, it´s just masses and masses of people on the stands, what a sight! And thousands and thousands of people on each Escola de Samba as well! It´s so insane to feel the crowds, the shared mass feeling is crazy, at times it just felt like the whole place was EXPLODING from so much energy!
And now, the comparison with the Argentinean carnival, in Gualeguaychu: I was there in January. I had an amazing time at Gualeguacyhu cause I was there with friends and that made it so enjoyable. And I thought the costumes and floats were great cause I had really low expectationes before going there. And it was also so mcuh fun cause we had first row seats which allowed us to jump into the parading section and have our photos taken and dance with the floats people. Rio I was far away and had a worse view, but OH MY GOD it´s such a spectacle!! Rio is so so so so so much more bigger, better, more professional, more coulorful, more people, more energy, more crazy, more of everything. I had really high expectactions about Rio and I was definitely not disappointed! So, no doubt about it, RIO WINS!
